Founding principle
Democracy is first and foremost the sovereignty of the people: no power
is exercised above their will. Démocratie Directe takes as its mission
to turn that principle into concrete reality, by giving Quebecers the
tools and the guarantees to decide for themselves the rules they live by.
Urgency and context
Québec does not belong to a political elite; it belongs to its people.
Our current system is not an isolated failure, but the outcome of
practices we must stop repeating. It is time to change paradigm:
Démocratie Directe offers a clear alternative, founded on respect,
transparency, independence and the responsibility of citizens.
How do we establish direct democracy?
"No promises, only obligations."
To deliver on that commitment, Démocratie Directe will carry six binding
mandates into a majority election treated as a plebiscite:
-
Founding Constitution: build on the existing legal
framework to establish a transitional charter and guarantee an orderly
transition towards a Constitution written "by and for the people".
-
Allegiance to the sovereign people: every elected
official will swear an oath of allegiance to the people of Québec, to
protect their well-being and their will.
-
Citizens' committees: create and support local,
municipal and regional committees; foster subsidiarity.
-
Responsibility and accountability: depoliticize key
positions and fill them by universal suffrage.
-
Cyberdemocracy platform: a hybrid, transparent and
secure system for collecting and processing votes and proposals.
-
Citizens' initiative referendum (CIR): enshrine in the
Founding Constitution the right to propose and to repeal laws.
Your role
Démocratie Directe is not only a party: it is a citizens' movement. By
joining us, you help build a Québec where every voice truly counts,
where sovereignty is exercised directly, and where institutions genuinely
serve the people. Are you ready to take your future into your own hands?
